Danny Goodwin is Associate Professor of Digital Media and Photography. A Texas native, his photographic, video and installation work has been seen in numerous solo and group exhibitions at Jack the Pelican Presents, Art Resources Transfer, Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, Momenta Art, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, all in New York City, as well as the California Museum of Photography in Riverside, California; Proposition Gallery in Belfast, Ireland; Washington Project for the Arts in Washington, D. C.; Penn State Altoona, Pennsyvania; Cartel Gallery, London, U.K.; Galerie Sans Titre in Brussels, Belgium; UKS in Oslo, Norway; and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Danny Goodwin is a 2005 Artists' Fellowship recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). His publication credits include Influence Magazine, Details Magazine, i-D Magazine, Pierogi Press, The Brooklyn Rail, The New York Daily News, The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram and The Albany Times Union. Head of the Combined Media area in the Art Department at University at Albany since 2000, Goodwin has taught photography and digital imaging at Purdue University and the Cooper Union School of Art. He received an M.F.A. in Combined Media from Hunter College in 1992 and a B.F.A. in Photography from the School of Art at the University of North Texas in 1989.

Full-Time Instructional Support Technician Position

The Art Department at the University at Albany is seeking an Instructional Support technician, full-time with benefits. Knowledge of Apple Macintosh platform required. Knowledge of Unix, graphics, sound, and video applications, network administration and knowledge of PC platform preferred. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse constituencies. Building and maintaining relationships with faculty, IT professionals in other units (CAS Computing and ITS specifically), staff, and students will be an important part of this position. Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.

Bachelor’s degree and two years experience in digital imaging or a closely related field required. Master’s degree preferred. All degrees must be from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

Responsibilities include daily supervision and maintenance of all digital imaging hardware and software in the department of Art, instructional support during classes and open-lab hours, training and supervision of staff of work-study students in daily lab management and open-hours lab proctoring, supervision of digital media, photography and video inventory and equipment loan to students, and design, implementation and maintenance duties relating to the Art Department’s website.

The University at Albany is one of the four comprehensive research and graduate centers of the SUNY system. The Art Department has an excellent full time faculty of seventeen, all accomplished artists and scholars. There are 185 undergraduate majors combined in Studio and Art History, and approximately 40 graduate students in the MA and MFA programs. In addition to our curriculum offerings, the Art Department sponsors a lively lecture series of visiting artists, critics and art historians.

The Fine Arts Building is the main facility for photography, printmaking, painting and drawing areas, with classroom spaces for undergraduates and private studios for graduates. The Visual Resource Library and the University Art Museum are also housed in the Fine Arts Building. The Boor Sculpture Studio is a newly constructed building with state-of-the-art sculpture and digital imaging equipment with classrooms for both traditional and emerging media, and private studios for graduate students.
