About the exhibition: "Totem" by Marco Cadioli

Cadioli's artistic research focuses on images that materialize on computer screens, blurring the boundaries between real and virtual.
"Totem" is a site-specific installation he thought for the WAG space - It's a post-analog primary structure made with a series of glitched images of the gallery itself that flow on a minimal surface positioned in the middle of the room. Totem tries to capture the energy of the place transforming it in a flux of pixels.

About the WAG

Due to our needs that seem to be increasingly handheld, WAG was born on 2009! The Widget Art Gallery is a mini single art gallery room fitting into people's pocket (suitable for all mobile platform). Every month, the WAG hosts a solo digital art exhibition related to its dynamic site-specific context. So the WAG works both as a sort of kunsthall showing temporary exhibitions and also as museum conserving all the past shows inside an online archive that creates a permanent collection.

About the exhibition: "The skin" by Alison Bennett, Oct. 16 - Nov. 16 2014.

Alison Bennett is an artist working in photography and digital media currently completing a ‘creative practice as research’ PhD project at Deakin University. Her research is framed by a question about the reconstitution of photographic surface within digital media.
The 'skin' of the Widget Art Gallery gave Bennett the opportunity to continue her investigation of surface in digital images in a new way.
The photographic image has shifted from a literal surface – a print – to an interconnected ephemeral surface, a skin-scape: the WAG; reconstituted via screens and code. Bennett was working with detailed images of human skin as a metaphor for surface transformed into an effort to 'see under the hood', to gain insight into how 'surface' operates within digital media.

OUT NOW: "Popping Pillflowers" by Lynne Heller at the Widget Art Gallery

Dates:
Fri Sep 12, 2014 09:35 - Sun Oct 12, 2014

Dear friends & colleagues,

I'm glad to curate/present "Popping Pillflowers" by Lynne Heller at the Widget Art Gallery http://www.chiarapassa.it/TheWidgetArtGallery.html on IPhone, IPad and OSX-Dashboard. Sept. 12 - Oct. 12 2014.

About the exhibition: Popping Pillflowers by Lynne Heller

The Pillflower Project consists of scanned images of pills and tablets, digitally manipulated into flowerlike Mandelas. Happiness can seemingly be produced through the use of modern pharmaceuticals; not only by taking them, but also by the magnetism of their colorful and candy-like appeal. The omni-presence of pills and drugs is augmented by practices of self-medication, evidenced through a pill-popping society that is continually fed ubiquitous promotion and marketing advertisements that ‘legitimate’ and ‘illicit’ the supposed need. Google earth extemporary land art

Dates:
Mon Aug 04, 2014 00:00 - Tue May 31, 2016

Out from Live Architectures: a new series of Net-AR artworks created on Google Earth, 2014.
Live Architectures is a series of digital and interactive artworks created over time in a wide-range production developed to reshape the indoor and the outdoor architecture and environmental places as well as the ‘digital environment’, transforming it into something alive and vibrant. This series of site-specific artworks is created and usable exclusively on Google Earth. Through the augmented reality technology, the artwork aims to create an extemporary-temporary virtual land-art, constructing a sort of "mise en abyme" or “droste effect”, in which an element shifts the other in depth, merging the Google earth environment with the augmented area in order to create a new space.

“Augmented forces on Google Earth” invites the viewer to use the Augmented Reality on the Google Earth browser underwater due to some mysterious quadratic endogenous forces paradoxically/ironically working inversely off the coast of the Ostia Sea. Inspired by the Gino De Dominicis act/attempt of 1969, to form squares instead of circles in the water, an augmented’ real-time land-art condition appears to the spectators’ eyes watching a submerged Google Earth.

“Augmented sky-trip on Google Earth - The strawberry ice storm” thanks to the Augmented Reality, involves the viewer to take a crazy trip into a storm of iced/acid strawberry over the Google Earth fly simulator. During the storm/trip, bizarrely, only one strawberry glitching landed successful on the ramp n. 13 of the Buenos Aires Airport on Google Earth.
