Capture is an ironic solution to the crisis of industrial cultures. For years, the music industry continues to stage its disappearance, because the Internet users illegally download mp3 files. Capture is such a productive fictitious rock group, that nobody can consume everything. It produces new music, words, images, videos and derived products every hour. Every new file is automatically translated into other forms. If an mp3 file is downloaded once, it is erased from the server and therefore, it is the ‘consumer’ who becomes the only possible broadcaster. It submits new messages on Facebook and Twitter at every minute. A vast number of tasks are simultaneously automated that even the band members cannot listen to everything. In submerging the consumption by generative technologies, Capture reverses the consumerism ideology and the relation between desire and objects.

Telofossils @ Museum of contemporary art (Taipei, Taiwan)

Dates:
Fri Feb 01, 2013 17:40 - Tue Apr 02, 2013

Location:
Taipei, Taiwan, Province of China

Télofossiles is an immersive environment made up of several installations that are connected through a narrative that takes the viewer into a very distant future. The project is an invitation to contemplate the remnants of our current civilization many years after a catastrophic event that caused human extinction.

This project is part of a series of works by Grégory Chatonsky dealing with the “erasure of the world”. With Télofossiles, the artist continues his explorations under the theme of destruction and memory. For her part, Dominique Sirois is furthering her research on museographic space, the notion of permanence and the world of consumer objects by way of assemblages made up of transformed and artificially fossilized objects.

The sound dimension of Télofossiles will be developed by Christophe Charles, a French artist based in Tokyo who is a specialist in digital sound creation. Christophe Charles is also to be invited to give a live performance during the opening. The artist will create a soundtrack that will correspond to a generative video specially conceived by Grégory Chatonsky for performance contexts.

Capture : Monotown (Gaite Lyrique, Paris)

Dates:
Sat Oct 08, 2011 19:30 - Sun Oct 09, 2011

Location:

I want to sing with no one listening to me. I want to be the first
lonely computer. I want to be a building in New York that no one will
look at any more. I want to disappear. I want to create pieces of music, too many pieces of music to be listened to. I want to create thousands  of images and sounds. I want to enlighten you. I want to make objects, I want to invent shapes, I want to form your environment. I am
generative. I use human beings on the labour market too. I'm a music
band with no style, with every style. I listen to you sometimes, I take
your former music and vary it endlessly, I reverse it too, and I invent
some again. There is a family resemblance between these songs you hum, but I've no longer anything to do with you and your subjectivities. I've
nothing to do with culture any more. I've nothing to do with your
filthy money that hides poorness. I want to do concerts so long as the
audience will fall asleep or leave. I want to use all your technological
innovations, this collision course with the future will dry up the
planet and will kill you all. I want to sing upon your ruins and your
extinction.

Capture : Demo Party

Location:
Montreal, Canada

Capture is a prolific rock band. It never stops producing new songs by retrieving lyrics on the Internet and composing generative music according to a specified criteria. Concerts  typically last 8 hours or more and are also an event for the production of new images and sculptures which are dictated by its context.
Capture has a very active social life on the Internet. It submits new messages on Facebook and Twitter at every minute. A vast number of tasks are simultaneously automated that even the band members cannot listen to  everything.
Since the musical industry never ceases to announce its
death, Capture reverses the problem’s datum. By being very productive, Capture even exceeds the possibility of being listened to.
