The Contemporary Artists Center provides 2-wk to 3-month long artist residencies in Troy, NY. Emerging artists of all disciplines and from all over the world live and work in a historic Neo-Gothic chapel, featuring 20-ft. high ceilings, adaptable 24-hour studios, lofted bedrooms, kitchen facility and a growing body of specialized tools. Situated just 2.5 hours north of NYC, CAC is conveniently accessible by bus, train or airplane.

CAC focuses on emerging artists who want to expand the current debates and ideas in contemporary art practices. We encourage creativity, dialogue, experimentation, and a diversity of styles and practices (2D, 3D, 4D). Programming includes weekly critiques and outings, lectures, and possible exhibition opportunities. In late 2013, we will be launching the grand opening of our contemporary exhibition space in the adjacent Neo-Gothic church. All artists receive some level of financial assistance and may also be eligible for work exchange. Submissions may be sent via email or regular mail and require a $15 application fee. DEADLINE: Feb 15 for upcoming 2013 spring residencies.

The Contemporary Artists Center has recently opened its newest residency program on the campus of the Woodside National Historic Register Site in Troy, NY. Two neo-gothic stone church buildings now house our artist program and welcome artists from all over the U.S. and abroad. The CAC is located 2.5 hours north of NYC and is currently accepting applications for the Winter season.

The CAC focuses on emerging and early career artists and accepts applicants who offer quality in their art and encourages diversity of style, medium (2-D, 3-D, 4-D) and concepts.

Our facility features high-ceiling, adaptable studio space open 24 hours a day with some specialized studio facilities, exhibition opportunities, weekly critiques, and free access to all CAC events. The living area includes lofted bedrooms, living room / library, dining room, and kitchen & bath.

The residency program offers artists the time and support to create new work and fosters an environment that encourages creativity, dialog, and experimentation
