EXPANDING THE DOCUMENTARY: NEW MEDIA AND DIGITAL DOCUMENTARY
Artists, in recent years, have pioneered forms of interactive, environmental, and database art that document socio-political, cultural, and natural phenomena that were once the purview of the film and video documentary. While film and video had the ability to collect, record, narrate, and argue about the historical world, expanded documentarians utilize the full palette of digital media in order to engage audiences, participants, and users in the production, archiving, and mapping of the real. Interactive and multimedia works implicate spectators in the production of information and arguments about the world, foregrounding the public nature of the construction of knowledge.
Panels will be moderated by artists and scholars with active participation and discussion by all attendees.

Then she will lead us through a step-by-step recreation, shedding more than a few ingredients along the way.
TCK’s "I Scream" Workshop
Mike Lee, founder of the New York underground supper club Studiofeast, will turn our attention to commercially produced ice cream and continue the "Buttery and Smooth" theme on March 19, 12-2PM. Thursday, April 18, 2013, 12:30–2:00 p.m.
Education Classroom B, mezzanine, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, Museum of Modern Art, New York
The included projects are long-term, multifaceted endeavors that are rarely represented in traditional venues such as museums or galleries, making this session a unique opportunity to learn about them through a direct dialogue with their creators. The program concludes with a round-table conversation among the artists, moderated by D. Graham Burnett, focusing on such questions as: Can science and scholarship be the medium of the artist? What can be learned from the contrast between the creatively driven approach of artistic research and the focused methodology of empirically oriented investigative practices? What happens at the intersection of precise knowledge and infinite possibility? D. Graham Burnett is an editor at Cabinet magazine and teaches at Princeton University.

Databody Mention in Hyperallergic Essay
There is an interesting essay, The Migration of Social Exchange, recently posted on Hyperallergic by James Holland. He mentions my Databody piece from spring 2001 (yes, prior to 9/11). Nice that it is still relevant after over a decade. This is a thoughtful piece that ruminates on the changing landscape of what it means to be social.
