The Department of Art invites applications from artists working in photography with possible competencies in other closely related areas of practice such as digital media and book arts. This appointment emphasizes teaching at an undergraduate level, however candidates must also be practicing artists doing innovative work and with an active exhibition record. Applicants for this position should be able to teach the range of traditional and digital photographic methods. They should have a broad understanding of the history and contemporary practice within photography as well as the practical and theoretical implications of new technologies. This position has a teaching load of 9 courses/year [27 hours] with opportunity for administrative course release, and includes general department requirements of significant student advising and service on department, college, and university committees. Additional responsibilities will include some or all of the following: coordination of the photography area, creation of and maintaining an art department digital photographic printing service, management and hiring of adjunct instructors, development of photography curriculum, and graduate level teaching.

MFA or equivalent degree and experience, with a specialization in photography or other closely related area. Ability to teach a range of photography courses including, but not limited to, all levels of black and white, color, studio lighting, and other darkroom and non-darkroom photography courses. One or more years of college teaching experience or equivalent required; fulltime teaching experience preferred. Candidate should have extensive exhibition record and evidence of strong studio practice. Please provide evidence of excellent administrative and communication skills.
