#23 - E P H E M E R A L A N G E L // ARCANGEL CONSTANTINI ARTIST/CURATOR
We discuss with Arcangel Constantini the evolution of his HTML wrestling
matches called Infomera. We also discuss the pros and cons of being a
net-artist and curator in Mexico City. Through his promotion and support for
Latin American digital art and culture he has proven that you can make
something from immaterial ones and zeros...

#24 - C O D E W A R R I O R S // HTML WRESTLING ON THE WILLD WILD WEB
An essay on the experience of Infomera aka HTML wrestling written in two
parts by the editor of petiteMort, a.k.a. Muserna...

#25 - T R A S H T A L K // W/PHOTOGRAPHER DANWEN XING
I first saw her work in the pages of Wired magazine of all places. Her 2004
work disCONNEXION was series of photos taken of mostly American garbage dump
sites in south-eastern China. This interview outlines a path from her humble
beginging in China, to the west, and then back, where she lives and works
today...

#26 - J A M M I N G - O U T T O R A T R I T M O S // W/MATMOS
Leave it to the experimental duo Matmos to find the rhythm in rats, extract
music from human auras, and conjure up the musical spirits in instruments...
These secrets and more are revealed as we interviewed them via the
pan-american phone lines from New York to San Francisco...

#27 - U T I L I T Y F O G // THE NEBULOUS EMERGENCE OF NANO-ART
Forget for a moment about massive art and the generally lauded
“bigger-is-better” approach to making art. In this day and technological age
“small” is being declared the next big thing. This would make a prefix
“nano” the latest buzz attaching itself like a linguistic parasite to
everything from industrial coatings to stain-resistant pants to tomorrow’s
masterpieces...

#28 - M U S I C A F O R M O S A // 3 TAIWAN INDIES
They say Taiwan has the largest species of exotic flowers in Asia. Well the
same can be said about it's music scene which we explored last spring on the
Isla Formosa [Portugese: beautiful island]. As an mini-sampler we chose
three bands:
Bad Daughter (WWR), Nipples (WWR), Natural Q (A Good Day).

IN THE BASEMENT:
A twisted melange of sights and sounds from 4 diverse bands:

NEW RADIO (NYC) - Inner city quintet which rock a mysteriously urban Unza
Unza sound by crackin' n' whackin' at two cellos, an upright bass, an
accordion, and drums. http://www.newradioband.com

Marianne (NYC via TOKYO) A jazzy improvisational experiment from Tokyo,
masterminded by Takuya ex. Organic Grooves.

MY TEENAGE STRIDE (NYC) - Brooklyn-based indie SpectorPop who promise to get
more than one tune stuck in your head for eons. http://www.banazan.com/mts

FANTASY'S CORE (Nagasaki) Good old fashion ear-poppin' boot-clompin' SkaPunk
band from Japan. "FANTASY'S CORE bursts onstage like an erupting volcano in
non-stop movie-style comedic violence and musical madness."

ON THE GROUND-FLOOR:
Tentative performances and videos by Les Idiotes (PARIS), Yitan, Corey
Arcangel (Whitney Biennial 2004), and Currituck Co. (to be profiled in our
next issue), and what ever else we decide to flip up on screen...

Re: Legacy Hackster: interview w/Cory Arcangel

Before I changed the spelling of Cory's last name Google returned only 64 pages with the search "Cory Archangel", while the search of "Cory Arcangel" turned up 1,990. After the googlebot makes it's return visit the count will be 1,991 on the later.

I owe Peter Schmideg a beer,
Antonio

I managed to catch up with digital artist Cory Archangel for a chat earlier this year just before his band, 8-Bit Construction Set, was about to play at a Warp records concert at Chicago's Metro. We got to chatting about, among other things, the art of hacking, modding, rodding, retro gaming and his Beige Records projects...

In addition to our interview w/ Cory we have 14 more stories to share. Including a quick Q&A w/ digital musician and composer o.Blaat in #10 "HYPOTECH: TECHNOLOGY UNDER YOUR SKIN"
