Annette Weintraub is a media artist whose projects embed layered narratives within a variety of architectural constructs. Her work is an investigation of architecture as visual language, and focuses on the dynamics of urban space, the intrusion of media into public space and the symbolism of space. Her work has been presented at the International Art Biennial-Buenos Aires, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes 2002, Buenos Aires, Argentina, The 5th Biennial of Media and Architecture in Graz Austria, The Whitney Biennial 2000, The International Center for Photography/ICP, The International Film Festival Rotterdam, Thirteen/WNET TV’s Reel New York.Web and in numerous other national and international exhibitions. Commissioned works include projects for Turbulence, CEPA, and The Ruschlikon Centre for Global Dialogue.

Call for the first Digital and Interdisciplinary Art Practice [DIAP] Artists Residency at The City College of New York:
City College is launching a new MFA degree program in Digital and Interdisciplinary Art Practice in September 2011. To inaugurate this program, we are seeking an artist working in digital/interdisciplinary media for a three-month project residency from March 1-May 30th, 2011. A studio and one-time stipend of $1000 will be provided.
Responsibilities include a public lecture and presentation of the artists’ project in an open studio at the conclusion of the residence. The artist-in-residence is required to spend at least 16 hours on campus each week during the residency. No formal teaching experience is required, but the ability to informally interact with students working in a broad range of media and techniques, which can include photography and new media, is desirable. The resident artist will have access to the City College Art Department facilities.

College Lab Technician, Digital Media

College Lab Technician for Digital Media, Art Department, City College of NY, CUNY
The College Laboratory Technician (CLT) will report to the Chair or Chair-designee of the Art Department and assist the Senior CLT in EDM [Electronic Design & Multimedia] by managing digital media installed in EDM, the Digital Output Center, Photo, and Art History, including maintenance of the network and file servers, installation and troubleshooting of hardware and software, management of digital printing services in the Output Center and general organization of equipment, supplies, repairs and scheduling. The CLT will provide support to FT faculty to develop/manage a database of student/alumni contacts and achievements. The CLT will assist lab users and monitor the activities of student lab assistants. The CLT will also assist other studio areas of the Department and the Art Office with technical and other related tasks as needed. Will be required to work evenings and Saturday.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma combined with one of the following sets of minimum additional
qualifications: (a) four (4) years of work or experience appropriate to the requirements of the department at a level of competence comparable to that indicated by apprenticeship in the skilled trades; OR (b) an associate degree, preferably in a related area (Electronic Art, Computer Science, Technology) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience of the type described above; OR (c) a bachelor’s degree in an area appropriate to the duties to be performed; OR (d) an appropriate combination of at least four (4) years of education and work experience beyond high school.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two additional years of experience in a computer lab, or a certificate from an information technology program; prior experience as a computer lab technician is a plus; prior experience with both Mac and PC platform environments, Ethernet network and file servers and demonstrated the ability to diagnose and repair hardware and software problems desirable. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability with attention to detail and the ability to develop and implement organizational procedures and policies, excellent writing and oral communication skills and expert use of Excel and FileMaker. Experience in technical aspects of printing/digital output is desired, secondary competencies in photography or video are a plus.

Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in typography, design theory, design methodology, corporate identity, publication design and interface design to BA and BFA students, with the possibility of teaching at the Masters’ level once the department launches a new MFA in digital media. Sefora has a call out for video and flash works to deal with the issue of restoring scientific integrity in government. They also accept contributions.
