Zwischen Himmel und Erde - Synopsis in Deutsch

Zwischen Himmel und Erde nimmt eine Reise der Filmemacherin Alexandra Reill=
durch Andalusien und deren Impressionen aus der dortigen Kultur zum Anla=
ss, das Wesen von Leid und Schmerz, die jeden Menschen im Leben treffen, z=
u untersuchen und - interpretiert durch Sound Samples aus Gesangen aus de=
n Zeiten von Alfonso X El Sabio (1221-1284), Isabella der Katholischen (145=
3-1504), der Nasrid Dynasite (1410-1563) und aus der judischen Kultur - z=
u einem Bildwerk der Vertiefung zu verdichten.

Die tragisch anmutende Asthetik der sudspanischen Region mit heute noch=
ausgepragtem, dunklem, dramatischem Katholizismus tragt gleichzeitig d=
ie Spuren einer Hochblute der Kalifen mit ihren Palasten und Moscheen. =
Weisheit als Studium; Spuren des multikulturellen Zusammenlebens von mauris=
chen, judischen und katholischen Kulturen. Ein Europlatz als Monument f=
ur so zeitgenossische wie alte Anspruche imperialer Grosse, Anspr=
uche, die einer Geschichte und Tradition, einer Disponierung, einer Haltu=
ng entstammen. Schwerer, schwulstiger Barock folgte gothischer und arabis=
cher Transparenz und Leichtigkeit, mit monumentalem Gewicht in fruhere De=
nkmaler verschachtelt, als ob ein Kolonialismus jemals Befindlichkeiten e=
igener Wurzeln zum Ausloschen bringen konnte. Verlassene judische Vie=
rtel, erhalten in musealem Charakter zur Beschauung durch Touristen. Als ob=

Was bedeutet Leid? Was bedeutet Schmerz in einem Leben? Blicke auf alltag=
liche Situationen in den Stadten und uber dem Lande Andalusiens. Kleine=
Momente spielerischer Eindrucke, immer verdoppelt, um den Blick durch di=

Above the Skies - Synopsis in German

Above the Skies uses the framework of Alexandra Reill's journey through And=
alusia and her impressions of the region and culture to research the charac=
ter of suffering and pain experienced by any human being in life and to int=
erpret a real visual world according to the inner perception and interpreta=
tion of the phenomenon. Sound samples of the middle ages contribute to iten=
sify this collage of visual impressions and transform it into an oeuvre of =
immersion of feelings and thoughts. The aesthetic worlds of Andalusia with =
its dark, dramatic, tragic feel of catholicism bear at the same time the tr=
aces of the heyday of the caliphs with all their palaces and mosques. Wisdo=
m as search - traces of a multicultural life composed of maurean, jewish an=
d catholic impact. A Europe Square as a monument marking actual and former =
claims to imperial greatness - claims coming from a history and traditions,=
from dispositions, from attitudes. Ponderous baroque followed gothic and a=
rabic transparency and lightness. it was built into elder monuments as if c=
olonialism ever managed to erase traits of roots of origin. Abandoned Jewis=
h quarters carrying museal character to be looked at by tourists.

What does suffering mean? What does pain to life? Views on daily life-situa=
tions in the cities and the country of Andalusia. Small moments of playful =
impressions, doubled, continuously doubled to maintain a glance through thi=
ngs. The pervasion of feelings of mundane phenomenae, of mundane life, a go=
od bye from beloved ones and an hommage to love. A journey from the earth t=
o heaven and back.

Walking in Footage - Synopsis in Deutsch

Walking in Footage ist ein experimenteller Kurzfilm, der mit Found Footage =
arbeitet. Produziert auf einer Umatic Engine in Kombination mit einem Video=
mixer, arbeitet der Film mit Mixes wie Bild- und Tonstorungen, die spezif=
isch fur Filmmaterial sind. Im digitalen Bearbeitungsprozess wurde dem Ma=
terial die Farbe entzogen, um den Fokus noch deutlicher auf die gehenden, s=
itzenden und laufenden Menschen lenken zu konnen, die von medialen Turbul=
enzen gestort werden. Walking in Footage erzahlt von der Suche nach Gl=
ucklichkeit in einem Informationszeitalter, in dem Langsamkeit und Einfac=
hheit nicht selten gegen die Konsequenzen von Data Overflow verteidigt werd=
en mussen und in dem, eingebettet in einem Uberfluss an Daten, es oft =
schwierig ist, stille Befindlichkeiten herzustellen.

Walking in Footage - Synopsis in English

Walking in Footage is an experimental short film working with found footage=
. the film is produced by using an old umatic engine and its specific metho=
ds of film editing. in addition, a video mixer was used to produce and shap=
e mixes coming from visual and sound material disturbances specific for fil=
m material. in the course of digital editing all color was extracted to be =
able to even more focus on humans sitting, walking, running through media n=
oise, feeling disturbed by turbulences. Walking in Footage is a film on the=
search for happiness in the information age where much too often slowlines=
s and simplicity find themselves in a defensive position in regard to the c=
onsequences of data overflow and where much too often it is difficult to cr=
eate silence within an abundance of data.

*****/A Last Supper/** is taken by the visitors of the Performing Days
Istanbul 2007 - a dinner as frugal as feeding as it is with its apple on
the plates of a table with thirteen seats. The looping screening of the
film **/Above the Skies/** **creates a stringent sacral character for
this multicultural dinner where a chair is missing and where the shades
of visitors become part of the scenario.*

Traces of Moorish, Jewish and Catholic culture of the Middle Ages form
the visual framework for a search on the inner essence and character of
human suffering in life, putting the viewer in a trance-like state of
slowed down introspection. Opulent Baroque versus Gothic and Muslim
transparencies. Empty Jewish quarters maintained like museums for
tourists' looks. A Europe place as proof for imperialistic approaches.

What does suffering mean. What does suffering mean in a lifetime. What
is the sense of conflict, the sense of separation. Impressions of life,
always doubled to keep the option to look through things. A journey from
the Earth to the Skies and back, at a table where a chair is missing in
the round.

With remixes of Middle Age chorals out of the times of Alfonso X El
Sabio (1221-1284), Elisabeth the Catholic (1410-1563), the Nasrid
Dynasty (1410-1563) and the Jewish culture.

GalataPerform, an interdisciplinary art platform, is organizing a
program of events to study "performance" conceptually and discover
various approaches to it: "Performance Time 07". This program aims to
bring together domestic and foreign artists from a number of
disciplines, such as dance, theatre, music, fine arts ... all of which
can be associated with the art of performance.

Artists such as Komet, Genco Gulan, Mustafa Kaplan, Yes,im Ozsoy Gulan
and students from Bog(azici University and Mimar Sinan University are
among the participants from within Turkey. 5 artists from Spain, 2 from
Serbia, 4 from Austria, Israel, France and Italy will visit our country
and perform their works.

The main objective is to create a fertile ground in Turkey for the art
of performance to flourish, by promoting experimental, creative artistic
expression and providing the audience with the access to performance
projects. The works that blur the lines between different art
disciplines will have the majority.
Through Performance Time 07, each event will be organized by a curator.
So that, every day a different approach to performance will be introduced.

opportunity to see *"Mavi"*, a short dance movie directed and performed
by *Elif Is,?kozlu*; *Evren Erbatur* and *I.dil Kemer*'s seminar on
*"solo dance in presentation "*; and, *"Yar?n oynad? bile"*, a solo
dance performance directed by *Carlos Pez* and interpreted by *Sevi Algan.*

*Tuesday, February 27th 07:00 pm:* *Damla Hacalog(lu*, who works on
interdisciplinary art projects, is aiming at the collective experience*
*of a process which contains theatre, dance, music, history, film etc.
around the concept of "Play". In the course of the night projects of

will meet the audience.**

contributions of** **Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, iS.CaM * will

Tranchini **and Ayse Orhon. *

*Friday, March 2nd 08:00pm:* *Batur Sonmez* gives his major works in the
area of experimental electronic music, as well as video art and
multimedia. Tonight the artist will present his live music performance
and video projects: "analog suicide" and "mindscan".

*Saturday, March 3rd 07:00 pm: Yes,im Ozsoy Gulan*, evaluates the
relation between text and performance art, the latter being often
defined with reference to body and time. After Ozsoy Gulan's
performative presentation on the works of Helene Cixous, Karen Finley
and Spalding Gray, the night will continue with a text performance of
*Ha Za Vu Zu* members Guclu Oztekin, Gunes, Terkol and then *Alexandra
Reill *will stage her performance piece *The Last Supper : Above the Skies*.

VISUALISTiNNEN
VisualistInnen, auch VJs genannt, erschaffen kollektive Sehgemeinschaften
und verstehen sich im weitesten Sinne als bildende KunstlerInnen, die sich
uber verschiedenste Zugange mit dem Kreieren von visuellen Erlebnissen
mithilfe verschiedenster medialer Technologien beschaftigen. Das Spektrum
reicht dabei von medial basierten Installationen fur Ausstellungen, uber
visuelle Kompositionen, das Gestalten von Raumen durch Projektionen,
Projektionen im offentlichen Raum, bis zu visuellen Live-Performances, bei
denen die Audio- und VideokunstlerInnen, gemeinsam und live ein
akustisches, visuelles und raumliches Erlebnis schaffen.

Visuelle Projektionskunst bildet eine neue Kunstform sowie Profession, die
sich im Kontext der Rave-, Ambient- und Club Kultur der 90er Jahre
entwickelt hat. VisualistInnen (Videojockeys (VJs),
ProjektionskunstlerInnen, Visual Artists) formen als visuelles Aquivalent
zum Diskjockeys (DJs), instantane Bildcollagen in Echtzeit. Zeitgebunden
Unikate entstehen gespeist aus Computeranimation, TV-Samples,
Grossbilddiaprojektionen und analogen Filmformaten. 'Projektionen",
'mediale Buhnenbilder" und 'Visuals" sind aus den verschiedenen kulturellen
Veranstaltungs-Genres heute kaum mehr wegzudenken.

EQUALEYES
mochte KunstlerInnen, die hinter diesen visuellen Ereigniswelten stehen, in
der Offentlichkeit prasenter und "sichtbarer" machen:
Bei der seit Juli 2004 laufenden Veranstaltungsreihe im Museumsquartier
wien steht die Kunst und Kultur von VisualistInnen im Dialog mit Musik und
dem Publikum im Mittelpunkt. Es werden verschiedenste Arbeitsweisen und
Ansatze im Partykontext und einer begleitenden Diskursschiene (Sehschule)
prasentiert.
EQUALEYES ist ein Projekt, das aus der Vernetzung der
VisualistInnen-Initiativen pooool, Eye|Con und visualist/in/daba, sowie
Visuelle Musik (q21) und Cheap Entertainment entstanden ist.

UPDATE
Bei der Ausstellung UPDATE ist das VisualistInnen-Vernetzungs-Projekt ist
EQUALEYES mit mehreren Modulen vertreten.
Kuratiert und koordiniert wurde die EQUALEYES-Prasenz von der
Projektionskunstlerin und EQUALEYES-Mitinitiatorin Julia Zdarsky.
Die Ausstellung ist noch bis 03. April 2005 zu sehen.

UPDATE beobachtet das aktuelle Kunstgeschehen in Wien.
UPDATE bringt Kunst und Szene in Zusammenhang.
UPDATE prasentiert Projekte und zeigt Haltung.
UPDATE fragt nach Uberlebensstrategien, Selbstverstandnis und Techniken
einer kommenden Kunstlergeneration in bestehenden und neuen Markten in Wien.
UPDATE aktualisiert den Kunstbetrieb, das Wiener Kunstlerhaus und sich selbst.
UPDATE ist ein Prozess und bildet Netzwerk.
