BIO
Hello! I am a new media artist working predominantly in net.art and time-based media, with specific interest in conceptual art, interface, user-experience/information architecture, and everything data.

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kansas State University in 2007 where I studied visual communications and painting. I then received a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2011, where I studied installation and conceptual art with additional focus on art history, theory, and criticism. After graduating, I extended my graduate research at SIUC by a year to concentrate on the history, theory, and production of media arts, specifically new media and net.art.

My work follows the lineage of conceptual and avant-garde artists and film movements of the 1950s and ‘60s, such as Minimalism, Happenings, Fluxus, and Structuralist film, and evolves out of Eastern philosophies and practices of Zen and Dao dealing with issues of perception, bodily awareness, and the experience of physical space and the screen in everyday life.

Currently, I am finishing a year-long position as Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Minnesota State University Mankato, where I teach digital and interactive media. In the fall, I will begin my tenure-track career as Assistant Professor in the Department of Art at University of Wisconsin Whitewater, where my main responsibilities will be teaching interactive media in the Graphics area and the program for Media Arts and Game Development.
