Abina Manning likes to sit in dark rooms looking at projected images. Since 1999 she has been with the Video Data Bank in Chicago, one of the world’s leading distributors of video art, where she serves as Director. Prior to that Abina worked with a number of arts organizations in the U.K., including the LUX Center, the London Film Maker’s Co-op, and London Electronic Arts. She was Director of the inaugural Pandæmonium Festival of Moving Images, a major European exhibition presented by the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London that showcased artists' film, video, gallery installation, and multi-media works, which The Guardian called, “A rich lucky-dip of the sublime and the startling." She has participated in many international film and video festivals and conferences as a juror, panel member, curator and advisor, and has collaborated on exhibition events with arts venues such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and London's Tate Modern and the Serpentine Gallery.
