In the city of New York there is no shortage of people in need of a hand. A group of our artists are coming together to give back, each in their own personal way. Regardless of where we are in our art, we’ve all had some help along the way. Contributing artists in Giving Back now return the favor by donating a percentage of their sales to a chosen charity.

Curated by Ashley Carson, Giving Back also marks the debut of this jewelry designer’s New York inspired Spring 2016 line during the excitement and buzz that is New York Fashion Week.

Manolo Rodriguez: Epic Epoch Solo Show

Dates:
Mon Aug 31, 2015 11:00 - Sat Sep 05, 2015

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

The next show at the Con Artist Collective gallery is a new installment of Epic Epoch, our truly epic, in-house residency program. Earlier this year, more than 250 artists applied to Epic Epoch to receive juried portfolio evaluations and be eligible for free artist representation, membership to the Con Artist Collective, or a fully funded, three month New York City residency with access to the collective’s shared workspace.

Our first resident is Manolo Rodriguez, a Chicago-based young artist whose work explores modern technology, retro sci-fi kitsch, technical drawings, and intersections between art and nature. In his words, his collages, installations, and altered photographs “seem to provide rational solutions to nonexistent problems”. This solo show presents new work created during his stay at the Collective.

Futurotica, Futurist Erotica @ the Con Artist Collective

Dates:
Wed Jul 22, 2015 19:00 - Sat Aug 01, 2015

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

Something sexy this way comes. We're prepping for a late July show of erotica with a futurist slant. What's the future hold for sex? Our collective artists take a crack at answering that question with artwork in mediums as varied as the spectrum of human sexuality itself. Check out our adult arcade booth, felted BDSM equipment, animated gif gallery, and more. NSFW and beyond. 18+

The opening party will not be one to miss. We're blacking out the windows and dragging our inhibitions to the trash folder. Live performance by local producer/provocateur Drrty Pharms, and more.

Curated by Rich Miller, Jackson Lin, and Brandon Wisecarver. Featuring the work of Joey Guidone, Jinhee Kwak, Jon Mann, Chamberlin Newsome, and more.

Sound and Vision

Dates:
Wed Apr 22, 2015 19:00 - Wed Apr 22, 2015

Location:
New York, New York

The Greatest Albums. The ones we maintain to be classic, essential, even perfect in the face of any and all argument. Each of us has a unique and highly personal catalogue of music that we return to again and again regardless of the ways we and the times may change. For many of us the crowning touch to these albums is an unforgettable cover.

“Sound & Vision” is dedicated to the artistry of these visual statements that capture the genius, inspiration, passion and provocation of the recorded sounds they envelop. We’ve invited artists of the collective to reinterpret cover art from some of their favorite albums which span a significant range of musical styles, genres, periods and recording techniques. Count on one sure thing: the new works they’ve created will be every bit as diverse and provocative as the iconic albums they invoke.

Epic Epoch Group Show

Dates:
Mon Apr 13, 2015 11:00 - Sat Apr 18, 2015

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

The Con Artist Collective proudly presents the "Epic Epoch Group Show". This is the first exhibition of Epic Epoch, the collective's ambitious residency program. This is not your average artist residency. It is for the other artist, the emerging artist, the non-traditional, the self-motivated, the not-yet-represented. It's going to be epic.

This year 250 artists built profile pages with a website we made from scratch. Each artist’s page was critiqued by our judges who were hand-picked from global artistic institutions. Artists who impressed the judges with their vision, their passion, and their portfolio were selected for a variety of rewards including a fully funded residency in the Lower East Side, membership to the collective, access to services for non-represented artists, publication of their work, or participation in the "Epic Epoch Group Show". Check out epicepoch.org to learn more about the program and upcoming shows.

The "Epic Epoch Group Show" features work by Antje Rieck, Shynn Kim, Davana Wilkins, Nona Faustine, Katie Hubbell, and Lacey McKinney. Join us for the opening party Wednesday, April 15th at 7pm here at the Con Artist Collective, 119 Ludlow St., 10002. The show will be on view from Monday, April 13th until Saturday the 18th.
