Sung Rok Choi was born and raised in South Korea. He earned a MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, 2012 and has a BFA from Hong-ik University, Seoul, Korea in 2004. He makes animations with watercolor drawings and oil paintings along with political and historical subject matters. He won The 8th AHL Foundation Visual Arts Competition Winner prize from AHL Foundation in NYC in 2011. He has had solo shows at Artspace Hue in Seoul Korea, and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Pittsburgh in 2010. He has exhibited at Artgate gallery in NYC, ArtHouse gallery in London, Seoul Museum of Art, Sunggok Museum and Artspace Pool in Seoul. He participated Nanji Art Studio Residency program in Seoul 2006. His animation Call of Duty: Opeartions was shown at Two Minutes film festival at Carnegie Museum of Art in 2011.
