TheConceptBank.org Festival Package

Deadline:
Wed Apr 15, 2015 23:55

Location:
Dordrecht, Netherlands

In the Netherlands the festival season usually starts at the end of March.
In the spring and summer of 2015 TheConceptBank will be present at various festivals. Sometimes it will show up as officially invited participant, but most of the time it will be unnoticable as every other paying guest.

At strategic spots on the terrain we will create a mobile office to share our performance concepts freely to the interested public. We have the aspiration to get as many works performed as possible.

We are looking for good concepts to put together the Festival Package. If you want to submit a work, please write it as clearly as possible, write it as a manual. Keep in mind that the performers will usually not be professional artists.

If you want to propose (a) work(s), please send it to package@theconceptbank.org, but don't forget we also need:
-your name,
-the name of the work and
-the year of production,
-a link to a website with professional information,

Please understand we can only select your works if all this information is included!

The concept should be no longer then 150 words!
The works selected for the Festival Package might also be added to TheConceptBank.org (with your permission)

Deadline: April 15, 2015

TheConceptBank.org is a web based platform for open source performance.
The bank is filled with concepts of many good artists; these concepts are written as simple manuals.
Visitors of TheConceptBank will be able to choose and print a concept and to perform the selected work on a time and place of their choice.
After executing the work, the user will be asked to send us his/her experiences which we will then forward to the artists.

Theconceptbank.org is a non-profit initiative, the use of the databank is free for everybody.
The concepts are licensed under Creative Commons.

Unnoticed Art: The Unnoticed Art festival catalogue!

About the Unnoticed Art Festival

On May 17/18 2014 the 222lodge organised a festival for Unnoticed Live Art in the, till that moment undisclosed, Dutch city of Haarlem. The Unnoticed Art Festival balanced on the line between public and private. It showed artworks hiding in normality. The language, used to express the works, fits in the average social behaviour in public space and, because of that, remained unnoticed to bystanders.

Creating the concepts and executing the works were split. The artists sent their concepts more or less as manuals. In the festival the chosen works were carried out by a group of volunteers.

The volunteers had a double roll. They were participants as well as audience. They were responsible for realising the performances in the best possible way and, doing that, they could fully experience the works. In fact they became part of it. The public was not excluded in this way but it was actually embedded.

The location of the festival remained secret. That way the passers-by were accidental and without knowledge of the occasion.
They had their own aims, their own occupations, their own thoughts.

In the festival works were performed of:
Rafael Abreu Canedo (BRA), Sarah Boulton (GBR), Derek Dadian-Smith (USA), Craig Damrauer (USA), Dino Dinco (USA), Mr. and Mrs Gray (NLD), Linda Hesh (USA), Hiroomi Horiuchi (JPN), David Horvitz (USA), Daan den Houter (NLD), Jeroen Jongeleen (NLD), Ienke Kastelein (NLD), Jonathon Keats (USA), Joke van Kerkwijk (NLD), Kees Koomen (NLD), Margreet Kramer (NLD), Gavin Krastin (ZAF), Frans van Lent (NLD), Steef van Lent (DEU), Gretta Louw (AUS), Lilla Magyari (HUN), Maria Martens (SAV), Andrew McNiven (GBR), Janet Meaney (AUS), Tim Miller (GBR), Marnik Neven (BEL), Joyce Overheul (NLD), Nico Parlevliet (NLD), Malin Peter (SWE), Jess Rose (GBR), Julie Rozman (USA), Roekoe M (NLD), Joshua Schwebel (CAN),Edwin Stolk (NLD), Topp & Dubio (NLD).

Now finally the book/catalogue Unnoticed Art is published in an edition of 300 copies.

The drift is a populist curatorial concept.
We asked artists all over the world to submit a video work, àny video work.
We did not intend to make a choice on the basis of our personal preferences or a premeditated subject, we simply accepted the main stream of submissions. That main stream led us through the project of selection. We follow the drift and we will see where it brings us.

The Conceptbank

Deadline:
Wed Dec 31, 2014 00:00

Some time after the successful www.UnnoticedArtFestival.com we started a new initiative called TheConceptBank.org. TheConceptBank.org is a platform to present new works of contemporary live-art in an original and innovative manner.

The bank is filling with concepts of many good artists; these concepts are written as simple manuals.

Visitors of the site will be able to choose a concept by artist name or by some simple practical criteria. They can then print it to carry out the work on a time and place of their choice.

After performing the work, the user will be asked to send us his/her written (anonymous) experiences, which we will then be forwarded to the artists. The concepts are licensed under Creative Commons.

We are now looking for more good works to build up the database.
If you want to propose (a) work(s), please send it to info@theconceptbank.org, but don't forget we also need:
-your name,
-the name of the work and
-the year of production,
-A link to a website with professional information.

Please understand we can only select your works if this information is included!
The concept should be no longer then 150 words!
Sending us your concept means that you are the rightful owner of the concept and that you agree with the conditions.

Theconceptbank.org is a non-profit initiative, the use of the databank will be free for everybody.
