BRIC’s contemporary art programs capture a rich cross section of ideas, voices and artistic mediums that reflect Brooklyn’s diverse community of artists.

Exhibitions at BRIC House
Each season, the gallery presents exhibitions of emerging and mid-career artists, collaborative projects, and solo shows that reflect the borough’s diversity.

Public Programs
BRIC hosts a series of free, drop-in public programs, curated in conjunction with exhibitions on view, to animate participation around the artworks on display. Popular events include Ripple, a literary reading series, artist talks, and performances that stimulate discussion about exhibition-related topics, and Family Days, themed art-making workshops for art lovers of all ages which run throughout the year.

BRIC’s contemporary art education programs take place in a variety of exciting settings, including classroom-based residencies for K-12 students, after school and at BRIC Rotunda Gallery. We partner with public schools in the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn with a focus on underserved communities where there is little or no funding for enrichment activity.

Opportunities for Artists
Opportunities for artists are integral to BRIC's contemporary art program. With the Emerging Curator Program, BRIC fosters emerging curatorial talent via an annual open call for exhibition proposals. The BRIC Contemporary Artist Registry is a comprehensive online resource on visual artists living and working in Brooklyn. Through the BRIC Media Arts Fellowship, BRIC's community media and contemporary art programs work together to provide training and equipment for Brooklyn-affiliated artists interested in exploring video as an artistic medium.
