artificial paradises (ap) was founded in 1998 to investigate the future development of technological-systems-art using new descriptive means and functions in software and hardware fields and the wider political arena. ap is active in the creation of open physical digital systems and is involved in the free software movement and peer-to-peer networking technologies.
ap could be understood as undertaking ongoing research and development within the performative sense of the revolutionary system-nature of technology. current research is focused on the fields of quantum computing, semiconductor physics, geology and low level computer viruses. ap aims towards the liberation of data generation from an imposed model and architecture (or any fixed operating system in its widest sense).
