7 years! blog-o-versary

Pathetically, not much has changed around here since last year. STILL haven’t moved this thing over to Wordpress. Maybe this year…

Luckily M.River’s keeping it running.

More importantly, it’s Alligators in the Sewers Day!

Lee Walton WAPPENING #4 NY/SF right now

At this moment, a man is locked to a bench in Union Square Park, SF.

To unlock him, find the woman in the red scarf at Atlas Cafe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She is the only person that knows the combination to the lock. She will give it to you.

Greg in Daytona

Best of luck to my brother Greg and his team for this weekends ARCA race in Daytona. In general, I dont know much about stock car racing and Im not sure how much my brother knows much about contemporary art but we both agree that car 38 looks bad ass this year.

Will Gompertz on Net Art

+++ [size=13]But seriously, his comments reflect his ignorance of the medium. When he says 'net' he means 'web' -- so when he talks about 'net-based' he means 'web-based' and by that he means things he can see through his web browser. So, for inst....

Biography

Artists M. River and T. Whid formed MTAA in 1996 and soon after began to explore the internet, video, software and sculpture as mediums for their conceptually-based art. The duo’s exhibition history includes group shows and screenings at The New Museum of Contemporary Art, Postmasters Gallery and Artists Space, all in New York City, and at The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. In "New Media Art" (Taschen, 2006), authors Mark Tribe and Reena Jana describe MTAA’s "One Year Performance Video (aka samHsiehUpdate)" as “a deftly transparent demonstration of new media’s ability to manipulate our perceptions of time.” The collaboration has earned grants and awards from Creative Capital, Rhizome.org, Eyebeam, New Radio & Performing Arts, Inc. and The Whitney Museum of American Art.
