freeze (2001)

Astrid Moors reproduces her face by using different kinds of media (painting, postcard, print, computer-generated work) in pursue of proving her existence. She plays with graphical and optical elements like reflection causing disturbance of the eye and the mind. These elements are found in her paintings as well as her (interactive or not) computer-generated work.

The work 'freeze' is the digital and interactive version of the painting 'attack'. This digital painting invites you to 'play' (in a poetic way) with the fact: "do you want the face you see to 'be' or not". The buttons '2b' make the face light up; the buttons 'not2b' make invert its appearance. On mouse over you can feed your own need of making some parts of the work visible. The sound of this mouse-over is like rubbing over the edge of a crystal glass. If you do nothing......nothing will happen.
