From the Edge is a series of animations created for the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) by Debra Hampton. The project focuses on various capabilities of mobile palmtop devices such as infrared communication, wireless networking and it's intimate space.
The project consists of animations inspired by the art of Origami and the concept of transformation and change.
The pieces are self-contained applications that launch from a unique icon on the Palm device. Once downloaded, the work can be beamed to other devices. The receiver does not need to install Flash player or any other 3rd party software to view the work.
The animations can be received at a public installation or by downloading the .prc files into the palm desktop application and performing a hotsync. Users must be running a PDA with Palm OS such as Palm, Handspring Visor, Sony Clie, and Kyrocera phones.
