Full Description

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are merely players” wrote a once great bard from the west. Well in between youtube, youku, The Voice and X-Factor, it would appear anyone and everyone can take to the stage and in some cases become a star. The beauty of it all is that everyone has a song to sing or a talent worthy of recognition, but the sadness is that not everyone can be a star. This is the sorrow of the prescribed dream. Yet there is something quite primal about this ritualistic building up and breaking down of a human being on reality TV or our obsession with celebrity. Human sacrifice has been practiced since the dawn of man, maybe it’s just taking on a different face. They would pamper and appease the human sacrifice before it was sent to the Gods, for to sacrifice someone who is unhappy would make the God’s angry. When you look at some of the tragic examples of the fates that befall the rich and famous, one has to wonder why anyone in their right mind would like to have a taste of being a lamb being lead to slaughter. I guess the grass is always greener…
