Artist Statement

This is part of a new platform for an Interactive Projection Mapping Installation. In real time, unexpected public interaction will create multiple versions of an audio/ visual installation.

The installation will react to its environment through changes in sound and LED lights. Public audiences are not just observing the art but they also become part of the installation. SHiKAKU is not a one way street art installation but instead creates communication and relationships in a public audience.

SHiKAKU only works if the public interacts with SHiKAKU. SHIiKAKU = 四角, 視覚, 視角, 死角 is a Japanese homophone that translates to “four square”, “visual”, “optic angle” as well as “blind spot”.

Embracing these themes and variations, SHiKAKU is an interactive projection mapping installation that creates a symphony of light. SHiKAKU 04 gives the audience a way to explore sound and light creatively and collectively, creating a powerful symphony of light in a single space.
