Snakes, In My Heart-Blood Warmed continues the story of two lovers searching for love and meaning in their lives. Snakes takes place nearly six years after their attempt at reconciliation in Stupid Love.

The Lamentations series is based upon the Jeremiah’s Book of Lamentation – a text of profound beauty and suffering.

In the five chapters of Jeremiah’s book, he describes the destruction of Jerusalem and its Temple in the late 6C BC. For the Jews living then, this was he destruction of their soul. Jeremiah describes Israel’s sins against God, God’s rage against his people, their suffering and their pleas for forgiveness.

Harding uses these themes as the framework for love and losing love. In Snakes, the old lovers meet again after six years of apparently empty relationships. Stupid Love tells the story about two lovers early search for their past love amid sorrow and despair. How they brought on this suffering upon themselves is described in Dangerous Condition. Harding ends the lover’s story in PartFour of series which she is currently completing.
