NewCoder was a pre-blog web zine created between 2000-2001 that included three sections: Theory, Memes and New Coders.
From the original texts: Time to spin a new thread. Code words into shapes. New Coders are people into the new code. Theory here is thinking about the Binaries. Memes are what we feed each other.
I used to 'blog' about Net-Art and online culture before there were platforms for such things. I wrote this when I was a young genX ‘Netizen’ who believed in Internet-based Utopias–so please excuse the tone. Artists I reviewed and profiled went on to do lovely things (Elout, Infopollen, Uncontrol, Tinkin, Crankbunny etc) and so I leave a copy of the web zine online as a little piece of web history. In the resources section is a Flash map with a comprehensive link list to many of the artists, programmers and designers creating at that time.
