People (2012)

People incorporates the generic default icon that signifies a person in social media. Over the course of one minute, the icons enter the screen and "gather" in the visual field. The action suggests communities that are formed through the use of social media, as well as the organization and mobilization of actual crowds through the same means.

Full Description

In contrast to the horror vacui of brands and logos seen in my Branding series, (clairejervert.com) these digital animations focus on the evocative power of a single, quotidian Internet icon. The extreme focus, simplicity and repetition in each piece seem to suggest a larger symbolic content for what is otherwise a purely utilitarian icon.
