Artist Statement

"Walking on four towering legs, a neck at each end of your body like your relatives, you tip each neck with 2 false skin-pigmentation, mimicing fake masks representing how you assume the community you represent wants you to act and feel. On the top side, fake masks of pride. Underneath, false masks of comfort. But I see the truth to the lie, as I notice the pattern of 32 parallel slits grafted on each of your false faces. And I know beneath, are the feelings you fear to show to the community you represent. 140 masks of true emotions you feel. Not all are negative, as though you hide pain, passive aggression, active aggression, and a network of feelings, you still have comfort and pride within you, and somewhere on you is the mask of confidence as well. The mask I needed to find on my own, with a light source of its own and a unique shape that lets it capture the outside light. If you stay closed, you will be blind beyond the current of the wind your neck-fringes catch for you to follow. But if you open up, that mask of confidence alone will dwarf the false faces you put on. So I stand bellow you to catch your attention, and encourage your openness."
