Artist Statement
"Walking on Thin Ice" is a New Wave disco song by Yoko Ono, released in 1981. She and John Lennon concluded the recording of the song on December 8, 1980. On returning from the recording studio to The Dakota, Lennon was assassinated by Mark David Chapman. Lennon was clutching a tape of a final mix when he was shot. Lennon's lead guitar work on the track was his final creative act.
The intention for the remix was to add dynamics to the song to create more opportunities for visual surprises. We also toughened up the beat by adding a gamelan-like pattern constructed with samples from a Girls Against Boys song. Rhythmic splashing and other original electronica elements are added to compliment the visual style.
