Full Description
Based on an erasure poetry project, Gray Vacation rescues a discourse of paranoia from the context of a typical series detective novel aimed at young girls. The soundtrack is made up of words and phrases from the novel, fragmented and reassembled in Logic. The visual content comprises scans of the altered pages, text from the project, and images of girl detectives from various series.
Presented as benign and even heroic in the original stories, the activity of the girl detective seems both futile and sinister from the perspective of the panopticon we increasingly inhabit. What's the difference between Nancy Drew and Pavlik Morozov?
