a hypertextual happening

the “aiolos” installation is an “animation” of semiotic noise and the ontologically-technological essence of the representation of the internet. the work describes the concept of connecting, communicating the internet’s resources and the ways in which it functions, as a possible means by which a work of art may be created. the aiolos of the project’s namesake is the mythological deity of wind, who within the virtual dimension of the internet “blows away” symbols and segments of code, thus initiating the process of renewed creation and the interpreting of “the source”.

a crucial concept behind the project is in common work what existing in triangle of human, software and internet; the simultaneous use of several terminals, with the objective of entering text, message, command whose subject and meaning will serve as an impulse towards a search for suitable content. the software will perform an algorithmic analysis of the text and in the process generate temporary images, which, depending on the strategy selected by the participants, will either coalesce into a meaningful composition, or will form a meaningless collection of dissimilar elements.

a software program will be „installed” in a specially arranged space, functioning as a medium for the creation of “images” constructed from information sourced from the internet. the software became available by the artist, will function as an artistic interface of choice, communication, which will serve to create a meta-narration comprising of various elements of communication: icons, pictures, texts, parts of webpages, etc. the way in which the project can be interpreted, will be significantly influenced by the installation space, which will be created of two minimalistic, strictly interconnected elements. a black monolith table with terminals placed upon it, and a white monolith of vertical screen, on the surface of which pictures, lines of text and commands will create a mystical and a metaphysical dimension of the transmission and the flow of information in a reverse feedback loop with the internet.
