This is a brief video sketch that relates certain aspects of the biker community in Arlington Texas from 1978-79. It gives specs of various bikes, exploring aspects of the groups commitment to their machines-- focusing specifically on their construction. The piece comes from a body of work that uses archive and interview as a basis for the exploration of memory, narrative and history.

Artist Statement
My work is based on common information sharing and the mediated interpretation of events. It borrows from popular distribution systems, mainstream media outlets and research vehicles that are generally accessible to everyone. I am particularly interested in cultural and institutional elements that function as substrate for social organization and the way these elements are distributed as codes to foster specific narratives. I try to purge these narratives by exposing the code’s function and make-up. Offering particular case studies, my work calls out the tenuous and tentative nature of power and knowledge, directing attention to the structures beneath, and providing recourse to the privation of sanction by asserting the value of odd perspective and operative story-telling.
