Artist Statement
This series is from the point of view of the outsider. The pieces focus on the voyeur watching events and finding a story in such places where others tend to move through much too quickly to notice. Every interaction has a sub-text. This series tells that story. The pieces themselves have evolved from past work. I enjoy mix media because I am not confined and limited with my materials. Over time I have simplified the pieces to give them a cleaner and refined look so not to overwhelm the viewer’s eye with too much imagery. The majority of my images are from old Time Life, history and science book, as well as magazines dating from the 1940s through 1980s. The process of finding images and subjects makes this series an amazing ongoing project.
