Sprawl: The American Landscape in Transition (2011)

Stark County, Ohio USA. is an area in transition. An area that was once old growth deciduous forest, Stark County became an area of widespread crop farming well into the 20th century. WIth the expansion of residential development and retail complexes like The Strip, the character of the region is thought to reflect the changing nature of the nation itself. In many ways, not only the physical landscape is changing, but also the social, economic, environmental, and cultural ones are in flux.

SPRAWL: The American Landscape in Transition is a set of 32 Quicktime panoramas and `190+ minutes of video created for the Smithsonian Museum of American Art. These pieces were arranged in the form of a map with annotations.
