Puddle is a interactive installation which appropriate and critique what we see as the common core of the discourse on U.S energy policy: OIL. The work consists of an installation that uses a motor-oil like material called ferrofluid to display text physically on the surface of what appears to be everyday automobile oil.

Puddle is a interactive installation which appropriate and critique what we see as the common core of the discourse on U.S energy policy: OIL. The work consists of an installation that uses a motor-oil like material called ferrofluid to display text physically on the surface of what appears to be everyday automobile oil.

Puddle makes comment on the current U.S energy policy starting with a taxonomy of automobile model names, specifically sports utility vehicles (SUV). Such SUV names as “Suburban”, Discovery”, “Avalanche” and “Expedition” on the surface of oil
