Consumer Index (2011)

Consumer Index is a site specific performance where Kenyon becomes a "Nielson Family" member. But instead of becoming a part of the "mini-USA, representing millions of Americans", he becomes a virus inside the system of catalog and splinters marketing data research of this "typical" country.

Full Description

Consumer Index is a site specific performance where Kenyon becomes a "Nielson Family" member. But instead of becoming a part of the "mini-USA, representing millions of Americans", he becomes a virus inside the system of catalog and splinters marketing data research of this "typical" country.

Kenyon usurps and circuit bends the Nielsen Homescan bar-code scanner - fusing it with a micro-video camera implanted inside his mouth. Kenyon proceeds to scan every single item from the local Walmart, indexing and cataloging this data. Using his body as the source of ingestion, he overthrows consumer profiling and tracking technologies
