Acoustic Subtraction (2011)

Acoustic Subtraction involves playing high amplitude white noise into a space and then rapidly pulling the plug. Twenty minutes of white noise followed by twenty minutes of “silence”. The audible world masked and cancelled out by the potentials of all sound, the act of listening cleansed by its own saturation. This piece was devised by myself and Jamie Allen.

Acoustic Subtractions have been undertaken in a number of locations internationally, including Kielder Forest (UK), Semperdepot (Vienna), Suncheon Wild Tea House, (Korea) and Platoon Kunsthalle (Korea)..
