'97 Internet 1 Teleconstruct spaceworks endeavor: I ask you (2011)

The objective is to intermingle Internet-wide concepts and potentials with sound-centered research. Overall, the aim is to suggest that these world-wide contributions may encourage ongoing multi-disciplinary projects, which will continue pointing and clicking through the interdisciplinary aspects of creativity, science, and communications-via-the-technologies.

Full Description

Duluth soundscape...This ear cleaning experience requires a cassette recorder, built-in or detachable microphone (stereo or mono will be OK), headphones (earmuffs?) which you would be wearing for the duration. C60 cassette tapes are required (1/2 hour per side; one as a backup; and don't forget to do a battery check). When the sound walk begins all recorders will be activated and and followed with whistle timing cues simultaneously during the 30 minute walk. For our project playback on November 18, we will sync all our tape playbacks-to the 1st whistle- from our initial gegin point. Our starting place will be the Bagley Nature Area, N.E. of Buffalo Street, near East University Circle. We will meet here at 6:30. We begin by spreading out in the Nature area for recording and will later critique our movements and our resultant spatial, contextual recordings. With recorders still on, we will then move on through the S. Westerly portion of the UMD campus. You should maintain distances between 10 to 15 feet relative to the nearest recordist. Whistle cues: 2-start recorder; 1-this cue should be recorded on all tapes; 3-stop; 4- flip cassette (and repeat). Dress for warmth, and rain protection will probably be necessary. Unless you could put the recorder under your jacket, you should consider the possibility of rain, by having a cover for your recorder.
