NAMAland (2011)

NAMAland is an augmented reality app for iPhone and Android which lets you see properties in Dublin reportedly owned by NAMA, the National Asset Management Agency.

Full Description

The National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) is a controversial body created by the Irish Government to acquire property development loans from Irish banks in return for government bonds, primarily with a view to improving the availability of credit in the Irish economy. To date NAMA has spent €40 billion of tax payers money acquiring property loans of dubious value from bankrupt property developers while failing to save the Irish banks becoming a powerful symbol of the Irish financial collapse and a focus of people's anger.

NAMAland uses unofficial sources to build a database of NAMA properties. NAMA is exempted from Freedom of Information laws and refuses to publish a list of properties acquired claiming that this information is 'commercially sensitive'. NAMAland has featured widely in the Irish media including reports on the evening news on the national broadcaster RTE1, on radio and in the newspapers.
