"Previously on Angel..." (Episode 1) (2010)

by 1069322

A video cut-up of all the "previously on Angel" segments from the first half of season one of the TV show Angel (spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). For educational/parody purposes only. No copyright infringement intended. All copyright is owned by the respective owners. Starring the wonderful David Boreanaz as Yangel!

"Previously on Angel" is a critical reflection on the processes of storytelling in "trailer time." Note the shifting foci of the story - the repetitions and reiterations, and the way in which the same scene can be used to punctuate a variety of different plot points (changing the meaning of the scene each time). Unlike classical narrative (which the Angel TV show exhibits) we have multiplicities, fragmentation, repetition and inconclusion (rather than unities, linearity and conclusions). This is also a meditation on the possible construction of radical any-space-whatevers (a concept used by Gilles Deleuze) within dominant media texts.
