New-Reader (2009)

Flash-based project centered on e-books.

Full Description

Interaction with this "full-sensory" digital reader is mediated by the "virtual body organ" (the hand). The organ has tabs to switch between the three different sense and interaction modes, and a toggle switch on the hand to change from "tap" to "grasp."

Smell and taste are triggered (like the touch interaction) by the big red "impulse" button. And the two faux senses vary intensity based on the organ's distance from the book.

Once the book is opened, by grasping the edge of the book, poetic sensation "notes" can be taken by grasping the pen in the lower left. Tapping the player controls in the open book play the audio tacks that have replaced the text.
