The Map Quest: A Collaboration between Jean Robison and Jocelyn Foye (2010)

The Map Quest, is a collaborative, interactive art work. Jean Robison and Jocelyn Foye have created a mapped terrain that is at once personal and fantastical. The Map Quest invites exploration of capricious drawings on skin with a magnified view and a user-activated cartographic format.

By appropriating the functionality of code like that used in Google Maps, the piece allows the viewer to navigate the intimate terrain by searching, dragging, and pawing the flesh on the screen, conflating sophistication with whimsy.

Both artists are concerned with alternative landscapes in their own work. This is Foye and Robison’s first collaborative project together. Coding design and support by Mike Kilmer.
