The contemporary landscape has become increasingly dominated by digital images delivered through new screen technology. Digital mediaʼs ability to expand the image beyond the cinematic apparatus has radically altered the relationship between the spectator and the spectacle. Given this ability, the way in which we negotiate our identities through this new media is in constant flux. 'Glass Looking Through' takes this unstable sense of self as a starting point in an attempt to explore the evolving relationship between screen and spectator.

In 'Glass Looking Through', digital media technology is utilized to bring the one-to-one temporal and spatial dimensions of the mirror onto the same surface as the screen in which the restrictions of time and space are lifted. This collision of reflected self and the projected other, in tandem with the shifting view of past and present, work to disrupt the dialectic between embodiment and representation. In doing so, the possibility for a new understanding of both projected and reflected images unfolds and creates a new world, not unlike the world Alice discovers when she steps through the looking glass.
