This interactive audio-visual installation is an attempt to explore the nature of nihilism according to Friedrich Nietzsche.

Nietzsche never formulated a precise definition for nihilism, he viewed the concept as multifaceted. His infamous "death of God" as the situation of nihilism generally signifies the lost meaning in the world and confronting these implications.

“Art and nothing but art. Art is the great rendering-possible of life, the great guide to life, the great stimulus to life.” For Nietzsche, “art” is the ability to create and valuate in order to mask the paralyzing truth of a world without God.Art as the creative process is required to reinvigorate a humanity grown weary beneath the weight of a meaningless existence. Thus nihilism must be a transitional stage, as a people unable to overcome nihilism will perish.

With this in mind, my intention is to investigate the nature of nihilism and how the "death of God" is both liberating and paralyzing. Making this installation interactive whereby participants use their body to progress the unfolding of the work, I intend for each participant to interpret and explore their role within their thinking about the world.
