Kelp Dragon (2009)

This is another of my deep jumps into surrealism. I create a lot of plants and animals that don’t actually exist. That’s what happens when a child is raised on Dr. Suess books. Of course a kelp dragon, if it actually existed, would be designed by nature to fit in with its environment, especially if it was more likely to be prey than predator. Zoom in if you can to see how far I went with the detail. I like to create my pieces so that the closer you get the more detail you find. If you look at my artwork you will notice the one consistency is the lack of consistency. I try to make each piece different from all the others. With each piece I try something new and try to learn something in the process making each piece a process of self discovery.
