I am an emerging Digital Artist and I concentrate on the development of inspiring and thought provoking imagery. The digital canvas and palette are my media and my images take final form through the use of digital painting software which I created. However, let me emphatically state that my work is not “Photoshopped.” Although I may use digital paint programs at times for certain effects, the body of my work is accomplished through my own imagery software and algorithms which I have developed and which help me create my unique form of art. Color, texture, lines, shapes, light, shadows and form are all ingredients within my art. I also am a photographer and at times I use one of my photographs as a basis for the development of a final piece. The output of my work is typically giclee and I work very closely with a colleague who is an expert in printing so that I may properly select the appropriate output medium whether it be gloss or matte canvas or, some other form of paper stock to further enhance the final result. I strive to constantly experiment with new techniques which I develop to always push the envelope in my pursuit of creating the “perfect digital image.” The pixel is my clay and the display is my canvas. Together I mold media to form artwork which is pleasing to the eye but not necessarily “eye-candy.” My style is definitive yet not easily recognizable since my work is vast and mellifluous. However, my signature, if you will, can be discerned through the use of colors and textures to elicit vibrancy and dimensional relief in my work. My imagery tells a story; it is layered and often complex. I have been known to push the envelope within the spectrum of color since often my imagery on the screen does not necessarily match the output generated through giclee printing. When that happens, at times, I refuse to print my work - saving it for a later day, when print technology will match the technology of electronic visual display. My creative process is innate. I find inspiration from every slice of the horizon. An image I see will provoke an idea which leads to researching the subject and then the creative process begins: sketching the image in my mind’s eye and then on the digital canvas. The work begins, the image takes form and then I apply my own techniques which I have developed. A piece can often take days to complete, sometimes over night. Many times my images are so complex that it can take days to just render the image. But, when the final digital stroke is made I inherently know when the piece has been completed.
