Paintings (2008)

In these paintings I am taking on the form of a donkey and projecting myself through it, becoming the same. The expressions of how they are painted, positions, and colors become metaphors of specific issues I see and face in the world around me. They are both situations I felt as a child, and ways I feel in relation to the world today. Each one tells a story, or expresses a specific feeling.

I am painting using only my hands in most of these paintings, as a way to feel my way thru the forms, having a closer connection to my subject. I have also broken down the paintings to the essentials, just me and paint. It is only the subject and the expression that is important to me. I do not try to render the donkey perfectly, but rather reveal his imperfections, and mine as an artist.
