This artwork contains both a petscan of my body and a photograph of myself. The title says it all, as I'm either looking at a tumor (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma) or my heart. When I asked my doctor what it was he said (perhaps misleadingly) that he didn't know. I like the mystery.
The self-portrait series was meant to be "the ultimate nude." You can see my ribs, brain, lungs, etc. depending upon which piece you look at. The series is meant to explore self-identity and gender issues regarding how women are viewed (consider Frida Kahlo's self portraits, which are often nudes).
