Lord Of This World (2006)

One-minute movie tribute to Alejandro Jodorowsky, played within a tribute movie to Master Of Reality by Black Sabbath.

Full Description

My contribution recreates in claymation the conquest of Mexico scene in the Alejandro Jodorowsky film Holy Mountain, with chameleons as the Aztecs and toads as the Spaniards. I filmed the background scenes in the Yucatan and collaborated with Rachael Vacharasovan on the paintings.

Artist Statement

This piece was created for the third Black Sabbath video event organized by Christy Karacas, wherein an entire Black Sabbath album (Master Of Reality) was cut into one-minute pieces and distributed to various artists to create a video to that fragment. The pieces were reassembled into the original album sequence, and screened as a film at Monkey Town. This project is a great example of internet-enabled community art making.
