The project began with an interest over the aesthetic relationship between body-matter and tangible-intangible. The searching was developed through a hybrid creation that crosses sculpture and new media. Matter shaped by digital processes and physical contact between matter and light is represented. Breaking the space into transparent gaps in order to observe what is there between the generated folds. Superimposing different densities of matter trying to reach what is behind the joints.

The first goal of the project was to make light move in a 3D fragment of space. In order to achieve that objective a textile technique was developed. Searching for a light-weight and very fine netting, tulle was used to construct space.

Light growing in space made by the hands that move over nothingness. An investigation over light in space: the topological circumstances of light.

The project began with an interest over the aesthetic relationship between body-matter and tangible-intangible. The searching was developed through a hybrid creation that crosses sculpture and new media. Matter shaped by digital processes and physical contact between matter and light is represented. Breaking the space into transparent gaps in order to observe what is there between the generated folds. Superimposing different densities of matter trying to reach what is behind the joints.

The first goal of the project was to make light move in a 3D fragment of space. In order to achieve that objective a textile technique was developed. Searching for a light-weight and very fine netting, tulle was used to construct space.

As a consequence, the work consists in a space created by pendant -spiral- weightless structures, built with tulle.

The curved, recursive and rambling path of the spiral added to the transparency of the material, makes the light float in space. Crossed by minimal traces, the space remembers an intricate mesh, made by layers over layers.

The spirals receive the images coming from a video projector. This images are computer generated with the Processing programming framework, based on Java programming language(www.processing.org). The image concept and design models a vacuum environment, which is populated by millions of non-existent dust particles, attempting to visualize an amplification of ether as a metaphoric approach to the unachievable truth of matter.

The second part of the project is done over the body: over the body’s physical movement. The generation processes of light arise from interactive processes, by doing this the relationship between the weightless images and the bodies that occupy space, grow.

The contact between the user and the light is made by the movement, through an interactive table, which also emits light. The scale of the body movement is reduced to the minimum hand movement.

Through computer vision and image processing, the interactive table traduces the hand movements of the user to numbers that model in real-time the light coming from the video projector.

The sensation that one can move with its own hands the floating particles without touching them, is created.

The sense of touch increases its importance. The hands move over no tangible surface: they move over ether, over some light, over the emptiness, over themselves.

Perhaps the light variation on space comes from a fragile interior variation of something that we can not grasp.

Mobilizing the space between or the weightlessness that is flowing among the space, some nanoscale emerges uncertain, bringing nearer other perception layers of the matter.
