"Desire 3: Beo" is one of the DVD installation trilogy which belongs to my latest project:‘Cinderella II - The Dreamer' (a hybrid of drawing with interaction and performance, installation, video and sound). The work explores perceptions of the home and domestic space as a site of dreaming and habitation, where the imaginary and the real co-exist and how one informs the other. During course of the creation process, I was inviting friends and colleagues to collaborate in the project by sharing their desires with me. The goal was to ‘materialize’ these dreams by converting them into installation objects. "Desire 3: Beo" is based on one of Bang & Olufsen sound systems which is a dream of my friend Lorna. "Desire 3; Beo" movie includes an aural part - a sound-image. While the line I draw is a visual translation of our ability to look and see, the sound is an aural translation of the same. Using musical notation I made an inventory of the visual appearance of original desire objects. Configurations of different notes positioned on multiple musical staffs, form codes archiving the appearance of the particular object. Then I work with a composer, Alistair Noble, who makes ‘translation’ of my “notes’ inventory of visible” into digital sounds. The resulting sound-images are used as soundtracks within DVD installations.
