Mes Yeux des Douilles (2008)

The distortion of reality. Picasso distorted the human body so it might be seen from a different perspective (s). Breasts go where no breast has ever been in reality placed. The eyes are everywhere and nowhere (in terms of how an eye might see). I attend these SM events with my camera and as you see the dramas unfolding between these people you can't help but see the human body in ways you've never seen it before as the thing becomes distorted. The objectified subject has no eyes focused in ways we know as "seeing." The camera is the only way to see him yet paint has been splashed across the context of the photograph. Symbolizing the spilling of or loss of individuality as identity is removed and replaced by sadomasochistic ritual, impersonalization, body objectification, punishment, and public humiliation. The body is nude yet the head is covered and represents the disconnect between the internalized and the externalized realities of the individual which exists at intimate odds with the sexual milieu of the outside world.
