Into Dust (2007)

A void or null space is not as its commonly thought of as a nothing, zero or nil. Null in programming terms is an actual value of nothing. Into Dust explores abandoned spaces which can be seen as voids in the social fabric. Voids but not nothing. Unused but not unacessible. Abandoned but not absent.

This work came about from a curiosity for these type of spaces when passed by and a feeling of something more. "When we were in the space we could feel a presece of some kind. There were distinctive memories in the buildings from markings on the walls, old machinery and people who were there. That's what we wanted to capture."

Into Dust is and artwork created by Melissa Ramos and Rhys Turner for an exhibition at SNAP! Gallery Fairfield.
